Development of a Repository for Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Resources

Grant Type: Board Grant

Award Amount: $100,110

Grant Awarded: January 2012

Principal Investigator: Carol Aschenbrener, MD

In May 2011, the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC) released its Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice report. To help health professions schools integrate these competencies into education and training, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) will create a national repository of teaching, learning and assessment resources.

Using its well-respected MedEdPORTAL, the AAMC, in collaboration with IPEC, will provide a collection of over 15 peer-reviewed learning resources linked to the core interprofessional competencies. These resources will help inform development and implementation of interprofessional curriculums and provide faculty with tools for teaching collaborative practice and team-based care. The resources will be available at no charge to a broad audience of learners, practitioners and educators in all the health professions.
